Swedish Massage – 60 Mins – €50
This is the most common and best known type of massage in the western world. This is made up of 5 different types of massage movements.
Effleurage: Relaxing, gliding or sliding movements.
Petrissage: Using the palm of the hand or fingertips the muscle is lifted and kneaded or squeezed. This allows the therapist to get deeper into the muscle and warm the tissue for further movements
Tapotement: Using fists or cupped hands a tapping or pounding movement is applied. This is predominantly used on large areas of muscle to loosen and relax the muscle.
Friction: This is used to warm up the muscle and encourage relaxation.
Vibration: By vibrating the heel of the hand or fingertips on the skin the muscle underneath is shaken. This shaking loosens the muscle and causes it to relax.
Lomi Lomi Massage – 60 Mins – €50
Lomi Lomi massage originated in Hawaii. This type of massage uses long, flowing and fluid movements. The massage flows from one body part to the next without breaking contact. By using the hands, forearms and elbows a large area of the body can be massaged at one time. This allows the client to enter a deep state of relaxation while also encouraging balance and harmony in the body.
Deep Tissue Massage – 60 Mins – €60
Deep tissue massage uses a variety of techniques that focus on the deeper layers and aims to release muscular tension in the body. This massage is used to target specific areas of tension and tightness. A deep tissue massage will noticeably loosen muscles, alleviate pain and increase mobility. It is both corrective and therapeutic as it releases the build-up of tension, eliminates toxins while also relaxing and soothing the muscle itself.
There is a common misconception that a deep tissue massage must be painful. This is not the case, a deep tissue massage can be stimulating and intense. However there is no need for it to be so painful that the client is tensing up thus undoing the benefits of the massage. During a deep tissue massage your comfort level and pain tolerance will be monitored throughout to ensure the optimum pressure is applied. This ensures you get the best results from your treatment while also having an enjoyable treatment.
